Today, I have the pleasure of showing you rooms with one of my favorite decorative elements—beautiful just cut branches. Branches come in all sorts of looks, from brown and bare to those covered in lovely buds and blooms. From foyer to bedroom, they’re perfect for every room in the house. Please enjoy!

Thanks for letting me share! ~ Mari

Delightful Branches

A beach house living room gets a touch of spring with budding tree branches in white. As it does here, a vase of branches can soften a rustic space.

Delightful Branches

Branches can also add a soft natural touch to the sleek clean lines of a contemporary room. Here, it’s just simple green tree branches that provide this great look of nature. I also love the “branchy” look of one of the contemporary floor lamps in the space.

Delightful Branches

Nothing says spring like pink blossoms and these are lovely in a tall clear glass vase beside the sofa in this warm and inviting eclectic living room.

Delightful Branches

Spiral bare branches look great on the mantel in this elegant living room. The natural branches contrast beautifully with the more formal elements in the space like the golden gilt chairs.

Delightful Branches

White dogwood blossoms spill out of an antique woven backpack on this gorgeous rough textured wall. What a wonderful look for just inside the front door or hanging on the front door.

Delightful Branches

A lovely array of mixed budding and blooming green branches fills a large glass vase set in front of the fireplace in this beautiful shabby chic living room.

Delightful Branches

In this retreat-like bedroom a large, but simple vase of greenery is in keeping with the serene environment—proof that just about any kind of branches can add their lovely look indoors. Can’t you just imagine lingering here over breakfast in bed served on large decorative trays?

Delightful Branches

A single green branch or two can bring the lovely feel of the outdoors into interior spaces. Here, they are quite interesting in front of a blurry oversized treescape.

What do you think of these spaces with delightful branch motifs? Leave your comments at the bottom and visit our blog for more home decor and lighting inspirations!”

Thanks for your post Mari – I love the idea of using branches to decorate, it looks great and can fill any size space. Have a fab Friday and I shall be back soon :) xx

My John Lewis Garden

May. 14th

Now the weather seems to be on the change, finally… I am quite keen to get my garden looking pretty, ready for the Summer barbecue parties! There is no reason why your garden should be neglected when it comes to styling, so I thought I would put together a bit of inspiration on the blog today, after my recent browse around the John Lewis Home & Garden section – I wanted everything!

Love this Java dining set

1 – BBQ,  2 - Picnic Basket,  3 – Bird Bath,  4 – Planters,  5 – Swing Chair

I love all of this – especially the dining furniture and the swing seat. I think its important to remember the birds as well, so I definitely want a bird bath! I think I will go proper garden shopping this weekend. How about you – how is your garden looking?

Have a fab afternoon and I shall be back soon :) xx

Keira Knightley as Coco Chanel

May. 13th

I am a massive Chanel fan, so quite excited to see this short film “Once Upon A Time” by Karl Lagerfeld – all about the amazing and crazy life of Gabrielle Coco Chanel. I think Keira Knightley is a great choice for the role.

What did you think? What a life! Did you see my Designer Love – Chanel blog post all about her life and the classic Chanel brand?

Have a fab afternoon and I shall be back soon :) xx

Too Cute

May. 13th

Morning all and happy Monday! How was your weekend, did you get up to much? Mine was amazing as I finally collected my new kitten Louis. He is a short hair Persian (exotic shorthair) and he is ridiculously cute! Just look at that little face!

I could go on about him all day, but I won’t bore you! I am sure there will be lots more of him on the blog going forward!

Have a good afternoon and I shall be back soon :) xx

Laduree Collection at Uniqlo

May. 2nd

Since getting my Lulu Guinness top from Uniqlo recently I have been keeping my eyes peeled for their next gem! It didn’t take long as today they have released this really cute Laduree collection and they will only cost £12.90 each!

Aren’t they cute! I love Laduree anyway (so pretty, tasty and luxurious!) so a fab idea to pair up with Uniqlo. I like the one on the bottom right most I think – which is your favourite? There are more on the Uniqlo website so pop over to have a look.

Have a good morning and I shall be back soon :) xx

Wedding Wednesday – The Perfect Engagement Ring

May. 1st

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Choosing an engagement ring is not always an easy task – whether the groom is on his own or you pick it together. It is something you will wear for the rest of your life, so finding the perfect ring is very important. Some find ‘the one’ straight away, but for others, it takes more thought and time.

Having so much choice probably makes it harder! You have the jewellery shops of course, but don’t forget to look online as there are so many great websites with a huge variety of rings.

Before you spend the whole weekend trekking around town and all night on the internet it is probably a good idea to at least have an idea of what you are looking for. With that in mind, here are a few questions and concepts that can help you to decide.

Diamond Or Gemstone?

The first decision you make when choosing your engagement ring may be whether to opt for a traditional diamond or a coloured gemstone, or both? Most think of diamonds when it comes to engagement rings, but if you are looking for something a little different perhaps a coloured stone is the way to go? Although why choose – why not have both?! If it is good enough for Kate (I love her diamond and sapphire ring – once Princess Diana’s)!

Classic Or Multi-Stone?

Once you choose your stones, you need to think about the general style and shape too. The traditional image of an engagement ring tends to feature a metal band with a single, prominent diamond on top. However, multi-stone engagement rings have become more popular as alternative options.

Erstwhile

What Do You Like In A Diamond?

If you are going for a diamond ring, it is so important to learn a bit about diamonds and what differentiates one from another. Often, you may have a choice between a larger diamond or a smaller but more perfect one. Learn about the four C’s of diamonds - cut, colour, clarity and carat – and you will be better able to decide which qualities you most value in a stone.

What Shapes Do You Prefer?

Diamond shapes vary greatly, and the shape will do a lot to define the ring’s style. Some of the most traditional options include round and oval stones, as well as asscher. However, there are also alternative options, ranging from emerald and pear, to heart or diamond shapes. I think you just need to try a few and see what shape you like on your hand – also think about how it will sit with your wedding ring.

What’s On Trend Now?

If you are looking for a little inspiration, take a look at the current trends in engagement rings - coloured gemstones, vintage settings, and even fancy diamonds – those rare diamonds that display natural colour, rather than the sparkling clarity most of us associate with diamonds. There is so much choice… just enjoy it!

So what do you think? What type of engagement ring do you have or are you hoping to get?!

Have a lovely Wedding Wednesday and I shall be back soon :) xx

Dress Shapes

Apr. 30th

I am always excited when we are threatened with some sun – it means the skirts and dresses can come out! There are various fab dress styles out there – from knee length dresses to maxi, yet most women tend to stick to a certain safe style that they are used to. I thought I would look at a few of the options today to give us all a bit of summer wardrobe inspiration.

Bodycon Dress

Bodycon dresses are not just for supermodels. Many styles actually suck in any wobbly bits to create a neat silhouette, especially knee length dress styles. If you are not confident enough to wear a bodycon, why not try wearing one with different coloured side panels? These side panels create the optical illusion of a perfect hourglass figure. Don’t like your legs… then wear opaque black tights. Unsure about how your arms will look… go for long sleeve or wear a cardigan/blazer.

Style Bistro

Tulip Dress

I love tulip dresses – it is such a flattering shape and they are perfect for adding shape to your figure. This style creates an enhanced silhouette for those with a boyish figure and the way in which the dress bunches out towards your hips can hide a multitude of sins and smooth any lumps and bumps if you have a more curvy figure.

A Gift from the Gods

Wrap Dress

Wrap dresses are also perfect for adding shape. The way in which the dress folds over the bust area creates the illusion of curves as – perfect for creating an hour glass shape. If you have a curvy figure, the fluidity of the skirt section skims over the lower region, while the top section is fitted – creating the perfect hourglass figure for curvier ladies.

Lolobu

Shift Dress

Apple shaped ladies suit dresses which are perfectly straight – clothing that narrows too much at the waist is not flattering on an apple shaped figure. To maximize this shape, shift dresses should remain shorter in length in order to reveal the slimmest parts of the body – the thighs and legs. Great for boyish figures, but if you feel that it swamps your figure, add a belt around your waist.

Fashionising

Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses suit all shapes and sizes and it is probably my favourite shape. I love wearing a maxi and think it is a summer staple – I took about 6 on my last holiday! They can be dressed up or dressed down too, so great for all occasions. In order to make a maxi dress work for you, wear heels/wedges or flats- depending on your height and the occasion.

obaz

So hopefully you can see that whatever size and shape you are, there is more than one option for everyone. Which is your favourite style and which will you try next? My favourite is the maxi and I want to try a bodycon next – how gorgeous is that Herve Leger bodycon at the top?!

Have a lovely day and I shall be back soon :) xx

Have a good afternoon and I shall be back soon :) xx
