Dr Ceuticals Hand Cream

July 21, 2016

I don’t know about you, but I am quite religious about moisturising my hands, as I am extremely paranoid about them ageing! It also just feels good too, to have nice soft hands.

I came across this Dr Ceuticals Super Repair Hand Cream by accident really. I had run out of hand cream and was in Boots (the only place that sells it) looking to pick up something more expensive if I am honest. I usually use hand creams such as – Clarins, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Hand Cream or L’Occitane (all around £20). It was a hot day and all the counters were busy so I went to check out the hand cream aisle instead, so I could get out of there quick! Anyway, I saw this and liked the look/sound of it and thought I would live dangerously and give it a go!

This is what Dr Ceuticals say about it – “This advanced glycerine-based hand cream boosted with anti-ageing co-enzyme Q10 and a pro-collagen peptide helps to intensely moisturise and replenish lost moisture and suppleness to hands. Skin-conditioning Allantoin and antioxidant Acai combine to further boost repair and nourishment. Light and non greasy the cream sinks into skin quickly to leave hands dry-to-the-touch but restored.”

My verdict… I love it. I was very pleasantly surprised because usually my rush beauty buys end up with me not liking it, but not with this. Its not greasy and it sinks in quick – none of that clammy creamy hand thing going on! I use it at least twice a day and my hands definitely look and feel smoother and softer so I would 100% recommend it. Lovely smell too. I want to try their other products now!

Dr Ceuticals is exclusive to Boots and this hand cream is currently only £4.99 (usual price £9.99), so great time to stock up – click here to get yours. I have bought 2 spare ones already! I would love to know what you think if you have already tried it, or will be after this review – so please feel free to leave a comment below.

Have a good Thursday and I shall be back soon xx

Festival Essentials

June 23, 2016

In true British style the biggest of our yearly festivals, Glastonbury, has started this week in its typical wonderful wet and muddy way, with festival goers struggling to get through the mud to their camp sites! These poor girls don’t look like they are getting very far do they.

You have to embrace it and be fully prepared to get wet and dirty at a UK festival like Glastonbury. So, there is zero point in having a lovely blow dry before you go in your white jeans and heels! Your hair (if it is anything like mine!) will look like a frizzy mess within minutes, your white jeans will be brown and your heels will get lost in the mud!

My Web Room

To avoid the frizzy hair scenario and because you can’t easily wash and style your hair every morning at a festival, it makes sense to go with a style that you can leave as it is for the whole time – skanky I know, but realistic! Plaits or braids are perfect for festivals and there are so many gorgeous ways of wearing them – add flower garlands and/or glitter too for that real festival feel…

So what on earth do you pack for a festival? What do you wear? One minute its torrential rain, the next the sun is out and cracking the flags! You just need to fulfil your Brownie promise and be prepared for everything I am afraid, this is the only way with weather like ours. It may seem obvious, but don’t forget your wellies – you will need them!

Layering is key in dealing with the very changeable British weather – so start in your shorts with vest top or little summery dress… then you add a lightweight cardigan or bomber jacket and then a waterproof jacket or poncho. Don’t go OTT with the layers though – it is not usually super cold at festival time, just sometimes a bit wet. So your skiing fleece, bobble hat & gloves can stay at home! Although do take a few warmer things for the evening as it may get cold at night.

The makeup and accessories are a big part of the festival look and you can really go to town with it, in a way you wouldn’t normally for an every day look! You’ve got hair glitter, face glitter and face painting, body painting, metallic tattoos, sparkly hair bands and floral garlands – do what you like, its a festival!

Topshop, ASOS and Claires all have a great selection of festival face, hair and body accessories, so check them out.

Some essentials that you cannot forget – wellies, bumbag, cash, wet wipes, chewing gum, tissues, hand sanitiser, nice smelling bodyspray, sun-cream, dry shampoo, spare phone charger pack, bin bags and torch – feel free to add some more of your own essentials in the comments.

I love Britain and even love our weather, but bugger this – I am off to Coachella next year hehe!

Have a fab day and I shall be back soon xx

Primark Autumn Winter 2016

June 14, 2016

So last week I went to the Primark Autumn Winter 2016 press day in London, for a sneak peak at what we have coming later in the year… its good!

I really think Primark just keeps getting better and better every season. Value is amazing and that is obviously a big draw for most people, but they are also so good at being on trend and doing it quickly, with lots of variety.

In terms of some of what you have to look forward to… a definite disco feel to the Christmas party season stuff which was fab, gorgeous silky nightwear and La Perla inspired lingerie, with sheer florals, sequin bomber jackets in a variety of colours (LOVED them!), sequin dresses, lots of velvet (jackets, trousers, jump suits & dresses) and beautiful blush faux fur…

The shoes and accessories were looking great too – lots of fun, sparkle, animal print and floral. I particularly liked this animal print range below and it was really good quality in real life too – love those boots! How cool is the black sequin bomber jacket – one of my favourite things from the day.

There was some fab stuff in beauty and makeup – lots of glitter and sparkle which I always love and also a range of matte nail polish and lipsticks which looked very cool – I will definitely be giving them a go. I also loved the rose gold range of makeup brushes and accessories – the brushes felt very expensive actually, which of course they won’t be in Primark!

The Primark Home collection for Autumn Winter is looking good too – lots of fab little touches for your home. I so want that pom pom flamingo cushion! Loving the “cloud” and “hello” lights too – did you see the pineapple light I got (is on my Instagram account) recently? That is Primark and was only £10!

Now before you get too excited, Primark are not unfortunately adding food to their range for Autumn Winter, but I just had to share a pic of these rainbow bagels they put on for lunch (filled with cream cheese) – so pretty and they tasted great too!

So what are your thoughts on this little lot? I think there is some great stuff coming and I cannot wait to get my hands on that black sequin bomber jacket and the animal print boots!

Have a good morning and I shall be back soon xx

Bobbi Brown BB Cream

June 9, 2016

So, BB cream… its been around for ages and I have obviously heard lots about it, but just never really felt the need to try it before. That is until recently, when on a really hot sunny day I caught sight of my foundation cake face in the bathroom mirror – I almost jumped it was so bad haha! I like a decent coverage so I have always used foundation, with loose powder dusted over the top. Most of the time that has been fine for me (I have very fair and slightly dry combination skin) but just recently it was looking and feeling very cakey for some reason and made me look 10 years older, which is clearly not ideal!

So after my scare in the bathroom mirror I knew I had to do something different and quick! I thought about tinted moisturisers at first, but after a bit of research I discovered that BB Cream would be better as it is essentially a tinted moisturiser, but does lots more on top.

BB Cream is an all in one face saver and a great alternative to foundation! They are all slightly different but most are a serum, moisturiser, primer, foundation and sunscreen all in one.

Once I decided on BB Cream, I then looked into which would be best for me, as they are all slightly different with varying levels of coverage. I kept coming across the Bobbi Brown BB Cream and also saw that it has won various beauty awards, which is always a good sign and sold it for me.

This is what Bobbi Brown say about it – it covers imperfections and evens skin tone; draws moisture to skin; brightens dullness instantly and over time; helps reduce the look of wrinkles; and shields skin against damaging UVA/UVB rays.

My verdict… is that I absolutely love it. As I say, I have always used foundation but think I am a BB Cream convert now. I just feel my face looks fresher, smoother and not a sign of “cakeiness” in sight! I still follow my full beauty regime beforehand – wash, toner, serum, moisturiser and primer. I think some people don’t bother with moisturiser and/or primer when using a BB Cream as they are said to include everything, but I would still do it as your face needs lots of moisture and the BB Cream will sit better.

It really gives my skin a nice glow with that dewy look everyone talks about! The Bobbi Brown BB Cream is SPF 35 which is great and it has a good coverage as well which I still wanted – not all BB Creams do. I also still put a very light dusting of loose powder on my forehead, nose and chin – but this is personal preference and you may prefer not to.

So yes, I would definitely recommend Bobbi Brown BB Cream – let me know if you have any questions.

Have a lovely day and I shall be back soon xx

St Tropez In Shower Gradual Tanner

May 24, 2016

I would like to think that I am a so called English Rose, but in reality I am just vampire white. I know that if I am to get my legs and arms out at all this summer, then I need some colour and quick! Some people look great (and more importantly don’t care) if they don’t have a tan, but personally I just feel better with a bit of colour. Especially when getting the old pasty legs out – it just makes me feel that little bit more confident.

So I thought I would try this new St Tropez In Shower – a gradual tanning lotion that you apply in the shower. I have used the standard St Tropez a lot in the past so I knew it would work – I just did not think it would be as good as it is!

It is very easy to use and in fact I would say it is almost idiot proof! I say this because my sister has always been rubbish with fake tan – she is too haphazard in her application and just slaps it on… wondering why she has patches and streaks! I told her that this is safe even for her to use and that is saying something!

download (1)

To use it you just wash as normal and I then turn the shower off which I think makes it easier. You just apply it straight onto wet skin wherever you want it – rubbing it around so it lathers slightly (that’s how you see where you have put it). Then wash your palms and wait for 3 minutes. Once your 3 minutes is up rinse it off, get out and pat dry – don’t wash it off, just rinse.

I have used it 5 times now (over about 8 days) and I am really pleased with the colour and easy application. I will be using this all summer – 100%.

So if you too need a bit of colour then give this a go – I would definitely recommend it. You can get it over at LookFantastic for £11.60 (usual price £14.50).

Have a good morning and I shall be back soon xx
