The Queens Diamond Jubilee & Past Royal Celebrations
Happy weekend! It is now officially the Jubilee weekend, so I thought it would be nice to dedicate something to our lovely Queen.
Did you realise that the only other monarch to celebrate 60 years in England was Queen Victoria in 1897 – so not something that will happen again in our lifetime. Just look at her here at her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947 – I wish I had a crown like that at my wedding, and look at that tiny waist!
The Queens Coronation took place later in 1953 following the death of her father George VI. The dress took eight months, three dressmakers and six embroideresses from the Royal School of Needlework to become a reality! It was obviously worth it though - just look how fabulous she looked!
It is safe to say that the Queen has an impressive set of jewels! I would love to get a look at her jewellery room – most of us have a box, but I expect she has a wing for all her gorgeous jewels! Why not, she is the Queen afterall.
Apparently, on her first Commonwealth tour alone the Queen took over 100 different outfits. Add all of the tours she has made since and you get quite an impressive number of dresses - that must be one very large closet!
Did you know that the iconic colors of Tower Bridge only dates from 1976 when the structure was painted red, white and blue for the Queens Silver Jubilee? Before that, the bridge was painted a chocolate brown – hhmmm, not sure that would be quite so special!

The Queens Golden Jubilee took place in 2002 and this is her on her way to at Pauls Cathedral for a celebratory service.
Isn’t it just amazing what a long a successful reign our Queen has had?! Are you looking forward to this Jubilee weekend – what plans do you have?
Whatever you are doing have a great one and I shall be back soon

Diamond Jubilee Eye Candy
Afternoon all. Not sure about you, but I am actually feeling quite patriotic at the moment, with the Queens Diamond Jubilee on its way this weekend, and the London Olympics fast approaching. In honour of the this I thought I would do a specially inspired eye candy post today.
This Eye Candy feature (now a blog category) is a collection of delightful photos for us all to swoon over – floral, Friday night, random, delightful and any others I think of along the way!
Fabulous! Which is your favourite? I am loving the tights and would not mind a cheeky Jubilee cocktail either!
Have a great extra long weekend and I shall be back soon

Mulberry Union Jack Collection
Happy Friday! The bank holiday weekend is here at last, and not just any bank holiday either – but a very special Queens Diamond Jubilee bank holiday! How appropriate then that Mulberry, one of my favourite designers, has just launched their Union Jack collection.
To celebrate this exciting year of Britishness – with the Jubilee and the London Olympics - Mulberry have created a set of limited edition products featuring the Union Jack for the Lily, Pouch, Bayswater and a selection of key-rings. FABULOUS

Which is your favourite from the collection? Ooh, I love them all – if I had to choose, then I would probably go for the Ostrich Lily (bottom left)! Key-rings would make a great little gift too.

Have a fab Friday and I shall be back soon
