Wedding Wednesday – Fortnum & Mason Cakes

Feb. 29th

Morning all and happy Wedding Wednesday! I was delighted to hear that luxury London store Fortnum & Mason has launched a stunning wedding cake collection and wanted to share it with you. Inspiration was taken from the 18th century, which was when Fortnum & Mason originally opened.

There are 6 cakes in the collection (starting at £500) and each of these can be customised to suit you, in terms of size, colours and shape – with 8 sponge flavours and an array of fillings as well as the traditional fruitcake.

You can attend a champagne afternoon tea cake tasting (how lovely!) and once you have made your decision, you are presented with a hand-drawn sketch of your chosen cake design.

This first cake below (my favourite!) is called the  Georgian Porcelain - inspired by the beautiful porcelain of that Georgian era.

This next cake is the Cameo - which was inspired by Queen Charlotte’s love of cameos and silhouettes.

This cake below is the Blossom - inspired by delicate wedding blooms and covered with petals falling like confetti. Each of the tiny petals is made by hand.

The cake below is the Tea Rose - Fortnum & Mason has a long history of selling tea, and they are very fond of roses too, (which are used on their groceries and confectionery) so that was the inspiration behind this design.

This next beauty is the Ruffle - a richly textured cake with a design reminiscent of garters and petticoats – topped with an elegant, handmade sugar flower, a reference to a popular Georgian craft.

Last but not least is the Georgian Lace - inspired by Georgian lace, which tended to be less frilly than later Victorian patterns and is therefore more in keeping with modern trends.

You know if you have a wedding cake from Fortnum & Mason that only the very best ingredients will be used. Your cake is likely to include several of Fortnum’s exclusive products, such as Sandringham Coffee, Rose Petal Jelly, Tercentenary Chocolate or Fortnum’s Cognac!

They also offer wedding favours in the form of matching, hand-iced biscuits, which in turn can be customised to match your cake.

What do you think – would you like one of these stunning cakes for your wedding?

Have a lovely Wedding Wednesday and I shall be back soon :) xx
