Welcome to Delightful
Welcome to my fashion & lifestyle blog. This is an accumulation of all of my delightful finds, as well as a bit about me! Hopefully you will pop back to get your daily dose of delightfulness.
You may have seen the start of this new feature last week with the lovely Rebecca Doyle? This Inspirational Ladies feature is set to share some of the inspirational stories of fabulous women I know and work with – and I hope that it may also help those of you considering a change?
So, the second inspirational lady in this feature is Polly McMaster – co-founder and CEO of fabulous fashion brand The Fold. You may have seen my mention of them in last weeks Friday Favourites post? This is Polly below on the right with her co-founder Cheryl Mainland.
1 – What did you do before?
I started my career with a PhD in Virology – bit random today! Then I went into Strategy Consulting in Life Sciences, followed by a move to healthcare investing in Private Equity in the City. Then I did an MBA, which gave me the chance to think about what I really wanted to do, so I started The Fold.
2 – What do you do now?
I am now co-founder and CEO of The Fold. We are a fashion label dedicated to dressing the working woman. We design a fantastic range of dresses that see our customers through from the boardroom to drinks!
3 – What made you decide to take the jump?
I have always wanted to build something of my own and do something creative. Through The Fold I combine many things I love – the world of business, interacting with fabulous, intelligent women, and fashion.
4 – What do you love most about your new life?
I love the fact that you can make things happen, and that everything you do makes a real impact. Its up to you to get up and make the day productive. Its also fantastic to be able to surround yourself with inspirational people and build a great team to see your ideas come to life.
5 – Any regrets?!
6 – Advice for others considering a change?
You’ll learn more on this entrepreneurial journey than through anything else you’ll do (probably!) – so whatever happens to your venture it will always be worth taking the leap. You’ll be able to apply what you learn to everything you do and be a more confident person for it.
Also, build a team of mentors / advisers around you – they don’t have to be formally arranged, but just people who you can lean on for advice and support. Your friends, husband, family are probably the most important support you will need, so lean on them for advice and a friendly ear.
For more information and to view their gorgeous collection then please visit the website for details – The Fold. Their Blog also has other inspiration, ideas and articles which you may enjoy. I want every single one of these dresses!
What do you think of Polly’s story – we would love to hear your thoughts? Does it sound familiar – or does it inspire you to want to make a change? I hope that this post and the ones to come show that it can be done!
Have a lovely evening and I shall be back soon xx
Morning all and happy Friday! This week has been slightly crazy because as well as blogging and wedding planning I have also been working on the re-brand and sparkly new website of my wedding planning business Temple Gregory. All will be revealed next Friday and I will be so glad when it is all up and running!
Fashion Favourites – The Fold and Jee Bags
My first fashion favourite is this super chic fashion brand, The Fold, who designs, produces and retails fashion-forward clothes for professionally chic women to wear to work. I love their stuff because it looks smart and chic for the office or meetings, but can so easily be sparkled up for the evening! Look out for a more detailed feature on The Fold next week.

My second fashion favourite is this Dutch brand – Jee bags. Designer Janneke Peters makes these gorgeous leather bags and accessories by hand. I love soft leather like this – I want one of these make-up bags!

Interiors Favourite – Flamboyant Hollywood Home
My interiors favourite is this behind the scenes look at the Beverley Hills home (via Vogue Living) of the flamboyant Hollywood set and costume designer Tony Duquette, who died in 1999 at 85. His career spanned more than 50 years and he liked to compare himself to a magical phoenix! This place is magical!

Random Favourites – Drinks Trolley & Donut Hair Ring
My first random favourite today is this amazing drinks trolley (via The Glitter Guide) – how cool is this?! It was originally put together for a photo shoot, but now lives in the office of Camille Styles – just in case friends pop over!
My second random favourite is this hair bun (via Gabba Gabba Gorgeous) and you can easily recreate this look with a donut hair ring – I got one from Primark for £1 and you can also purchase one from Amazon.
What do you think of today’s Friday Favourites? Which do you like best? I especially love The Fold dresses – I want all of their collection! The drinks trolley is fab too.
What do you have planned for the weekend – anything exciting?!
Have a lovely Friday and I shall be back soon xx
